One of my favorite things to do when I’m browsing through other photographer’s websites and blogs is to see what they have in their camera bag – which lenses they use the most, what gadgets they love, what they would never go to a shoot without . . . And so, I’ve been inspired by other photogs that I admire to show what’s in my camera bag here on my blog.  I’ve also put this info on my “about JaNae” page.

I’m a Canon girl.  When I decided to go digital I researched the options available and Canon was the best choice for me.  I have purchased most of my gear online at B&H Photo Video and locally at Pixels Foto & Frame.  In addition to various gadgets (a couple of tripods, flash mounts, various cords, batteries, etc that I usually don’t use) this is what I have with me at every shoot:

I LOVE baking….not cooking so much as baking.  And as we get closer to fall, I find myself thinking about ways that I can improve on some of my famous ‘favorites’ and try new things to add to the mix.  So many holiday traditions in our home are centered around baking too and I look forward to rolling out dough and decorating sugar cookies and getting completely messy and covered in goo with my family.

As some of you know, I am a vegetarian and working towards a more vegan lifestyle, so when I found The Joy of Vegan Baking, the compassionate cooks’ traditional treats and sinful sweets cookbook by Colleen Patrick-Goudreau at Barnes and Noble I was even more excited to start baking again.  But, what I found after reading, yes reading a cookbook, cover-to-cover was that Colleen includes so much information about how to use animal-free foods in everyday cooking that it has become so much easier for me to change a few little ingredients in my favorite recipes to more healthy options and usually with a tastier, better result!

This book is full of great tips, that ANY baker should know, I wish I had had this book years ago.  It is amazing and I highly recommend it to anyone who loves to bake or cook, vegetarian or vegan or no.  As you can see from all of the flags sticking out of the sides, I love this book!  I literally had to just stop flagging pages because I was flagging every 3rd page or so…

my little pooki

April 7, 2009

I thought I would share these photos of my little maltese — just bathed and too cute not to snap a few quick photos . . .

My husband just had a birthday and we had a fun visit from our grandson to celebrate the occasion!  I got down on the floor and rolled around with him to get some fun shots.

Isn’t he just the cutest!

I couldn’t help laughing when he stuck his tongue out while he was getting dressed to go out – - so stinkin cute!

This was our favorite pose!  We would all just bust up laughing when he would do this one.  This was his reaction to my laugh.  He’s scooting around pretty good – won’t be long before he’s actually crawling…then walking…then driving…. *sigh* …. :)

The Smithereens ROCK!

August 29, 2007

I got to see The Smithereens perform in Park City a couple of weekends ago.  They were awesome!  Pat DiNizio’s voice is the voice of an era.   I got one of the broken drumsticks and the whole band signed it after the show.  They were really cool to talk to.  Here are some fabulous photos I took with my pink Motorazr (ok, it doesn’t perform as well as my Canon 5D, but it’s all I had to work with).  Enjoy :o )
